About the conference
Light as an art form, a material and a shared language
Scandlight is an international meeting place for professionals and students who work with light as an art form.
The 2026 conference welcomed lighting designers, lighting artists, researchers, developers, educators, teachers, students and arts managers from around the world. The programme crossed artistic genres and practices including theatre, dance, music, circus, television, visual art and multimedia art.
Under the theme In the context of light, participants shared artistic practices, research, technologies and professional experiences while building connections across countries, disciplines and generations.

A Scandinavian meeting place for lighting design
Scandlight was established to create a Scandinavian meeting place for professionals working with lighting design. The first conference was held in Malmö in 2006, with Lars Garpenfeldt and his company Scesam as driving forces behind the event.
